OCT 2000 - FINDING THE WEBSITE
You
have all the same influences I have. I'd like to hear the band. My only
complaint about the new psychcobilly revolution is not enough fuzz. To
me, that's what made the early Cramps stuff so good, the fuzz! At one
time, local band "The Mad Daddies" out fuzzed the Cramps big time, but
both bands have been through so many personel changes you never know
what you'll get when you see them live. Funny, we have all the same
influences, I said that at the beginning, and I'll guess with relative
certainty that I'm old enough to be your father! I play barre chord
rock, a la the Cramps/Ramones, and now no one wants to play with me
any more. I'm not very good, but I've got the right attitude. I play on
customized Univox semi-holly body ('70) thru a Kay fuzztone (68), and
Silvertone amp (68). My reverb is down, but I'm saving my boxtops for a
new Fender reissue. How much are those cassettes? Send
something!...Johnny
NOV 2000 - WAITING FOR THE TAPE
Hello again, I looked at the page yesterday. I was "searching" for VW parts
for a friend. How did that link to your page? Computers are a strange thing.
I don't admit my real age often, but yes, I still could be your father.
A couple of years ago, a college age girl I know enthusiastically introduced
me to her friends as "the coolest old guy I know". I use the quote often. It's
funny, too, when you zap the e-mail link you never know where the mail is
going. From Scotland, in Chile, into sixties garage rock. I'd hang out with
you guys if you lived a little closer. I would love to hear what you sounded
like, so any way you can send me anything. Take your time, when you get to it,
If you get to it. I was into all those band you list as influences when they
were current. I never stoped liking those bands. The first song I ever learned
to play was "What goes on" by the Velvet Underground. My Brother was in a
Velvet Underground cover band in in '68. I played keyboard briefly. I picked
up the guitar after hearing the Ramones and Dictators, and seeing The Cramps.
My life has never been the same since then. Well, enough of me, get back to
work before some fires you and you wind some place worse. I hope you
get the band back together, and if you you need a real bad rhythm player, let
me know......Johnny
DEC 2000 - GETTING THE TAPE
I have to tell you,
the tape of the ZOO arrived Friday as I was heading out the door to do
something. I can't remember what, but I ran up stairs, where the only
working cassette deck is, and popped in the tape. I only played half of
the first song, but I was blown away. I played the rest of the tape as I
worked around the upstairs the rest of the night. This could be one of
my new prized possessions. It is GREAT. I'm curious about the Tombstones
now! I would have gotten around to that sooner or later. Do you still listen
to this stuff. You have to be really proud of being a part of something so
great. I don't know what I really expected, but I liked what I got.
Psychedelic Ramones? I won't keep you from your duties, but the tape was a
major bright spot on a bad day. It will continue to bring me joy for a long
time. My wife is tired of it already. I need to find a new wife! It's a
shame a band as good as yours has to sit on back burners while we work real
jobs. Life is strange. I hope we can keep in touch, I'm heading to the
Tombstone link right now.........................Later! Johnny
JAN 2001
Your tape is STILL in the tape player! I do love it.
Yeah we also got a request from a tape from some French
chick who'd heard "Kylie Can't Dance" on K.O.G.A. records .
Never heard back, suppose she wasn't so impressed by the distorted spacey rammy going on
